Ms. Markel is a pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry executive with more than 35 years of experience and practice in the following therapeutic areas: cardiovascular, central nervous system, dermatology, medical devices, gastroenterology, hematology, immunology, oncology, respiratory, and urology. She holds a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering (magna cum laude); and an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering, both from Duke University.
Ms. Markel said that her experience in clinical research proved that biometric data capture was a pioneering approach to improving diagnostics, healthcare, and patient safety monitoring. “The power of accurate, real-time data capture directly from biomedical devices became my gold standard for the potential that could be achieved in clinical research for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.”
As a leader in the services delivery organization at PHT, Ms. Markel has been fundamental in reinforcing the company’s ongoing commitment to quality. Ms. Markel plays a key role in maintaining customer relationships and satisfaction, as well as establishing new clients. During her tenure, the PHT scientific consulting team, PROVision, of which she is a member, has increased key personnel by 40 percent.
