PHT Announces CRF Settlement, Thus Concluding Patent Infringement Lawsuits
PHT grants CRF a fully paid-up worldwide license, thereby ending current litigation
CHARLESTOWN, Mass. — March 31, 2006 — PHT Corporation, the market-leading provider of electronic patient reported outcome (ePRO) solutions used in over 195 clinical trials worldwide, today announced that PHT and CRF have reached a settlement in PHT’s patent infringement lawsuit filed on January 28, 2004. Terms of the settlement remain confidential, but include a fully paid-up worldwide license for CRF Inc. and dismissal of all claims and counterclaims in the suit.
“As an early innovator in ePRO solutions, we initiated the patent infringement lawsuits to protect our intellectual property,” said Phil Lee, PHT President and CEO. “We first settled with eTrials Worldwide, Inc. (Nasdaq: ETWC, ETWCW, ETWCU) on August 23, 2005, and today announced settlements with the remaining two defendants, invivodata and CRF. We are pleased to settle amicably with the three defendants, thereby concluding all outstanding litigation. These settlements pave the way for the customers of the three companies to take full advantage of PHT’s patents, thereby increasing market adoption and driving rapid growth in the ePRO industry.”
